Raising funds for the Cure
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009
Every year, GHCU assembles a big team of staff, their family and friends to walk or run in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. So far this year, we have 41 participants signed up, and we’ve collected $1,065. And we’ve only just begun.
Breast cancer is so incredibly pervasive, it’s unlikely anyone’s life is completely untouched by the disease. We walk because we believe a cure is out there. We can increase every woman’s chances of survival and decrease everyone’s risk of contracting the disease in the first place if we work–and walk–together.
If you’d like to support Team GHCU’s efforts, here’s how you can do it:
1. Go to the GHCU Team page and click “Support Group Health Credit Union!” You can make a secure donation with a credit card.
2. Attend one of our fund-raising activities. The next one is Friday, May 15, when we’re hosting a barbeque at our Capitol Hill branch. Come have a hot dog and support the cause! (Veggie dogs available.) We start grilling around 11 am. A giant “thank you!” to the 15th Ave. QFC and Safeway for incredibly generous donations of food and drink. 115 15th Avenue East in Seattle
3. When you stop by to do some business, you’ll notice the branches are ever-more festooned with ribbons. Buy a ribbon in honor of a loved one or in honor of everyone who has fought this disease. The more ribbons you buy, the closer we get to the day we leave breast cancer behind.
Thank you for all contributions to the Cure, and we hope to see you in the crowd of thousands on June 7!
