You’ll need ICE “In Case of Emergency”
Tuesday, August 10th, 2010Guest blog from Kathy D in our Human Resources Department:
Do you know what ICE is?
Other than the clear frozen square object you put in your glass to keep your drinks cold, ICE stands for In Case of Emergency.
The ICE campaign was launched a few years back, by a British paramedic. He responded to many accidents in which the injured person carried no information about next of kin or emergency contacts. This makes it difficult for paramedics and hospital personnel to know whom to contact regarding the patient’s medical history or allergies. The paramedic came up with idea of programming ICE into your cellular phonebook. Accompanying the acronym would be the name and phone numbers of the person who should be called if something has happened to the owner of the phone. You can program multiple emergency contacts by entering ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. Many phones today already have an ICE feature which you can use to program your contacts.
It is a great idea to add ICE to your cell phone. As an extra precaution, always keep a written ICE contact list in your purse or wallet in case your cell is not with you or damaged. You can never be too prepared.

Great suggestion. Thanks
Gerrie,
You bet. I didn’t know about this until Kathy passed it on! Thanks for your comment.
