Moving? Drop us a note!

Moving is stressful, no doubt about it. With so many things to do and so much to remember, it’s understandable when a detail or two slips quietly through the cracks. If you are going to be moving in the next month or two, there are lots of good checklists on the Internet to help you manage the details, including this very thorough one from U-Pack. One very important piece we’d like you to remember? Make sure you get your new address to your credit union!

Updating your address isn’t difficult and doesn’t take long, but it is important. In order to preserve your security, Salal CU doesn’t allow mail forwarding on many communications. This means that mail sent to your previous address is returned to the credit union. Once the communication is received back here, we need to find you so that we can get your correct address on record. Of course, this process takes time and can result in your account being temporarily blocked or your debit or ATM card being cancelled.

In order to update your address, you can come into a branch and fill out a change-of-address form. If that’s not convenient, you can write us a letter. Just be sure to include your member number, your new address and your signature and let us know that you’d like to change your address in our files. To ensure the quickest possible result, you can also include a photocopy of a piece of photo identification with your signature on it (like a driver’s license or passport).

If you have any questions about updating your records, please let us know at 800-562-5515 or 206-298-9394.
