Salal CU in the Community

Monday, November 29th, 2010

In early November, Salal CU held its annual All-Staff Meeting. It’s the one day a year when we all get together to hear from our President & CEO, John Iglesias, on the state of the credit union, share best practices and reconnect with one another.

This year’s theme was “Salal is Service Driven,” and in keeping with that theme, we had guest speakers from the two community health organizations we were honored to raise funds for this summer: International Community Health  Services (ICHS) and HealthPoint. Both of these organizations provide critical healthcare services to low-income and underserved communities in our area, and we were thrilled to be able to present each with a check, thanks to the contributions of our members and staff.

But our community service didn’t end there: All Staff Day is a work day, and we put our staff to work! During the day, teams of Salal employees filled “basic-needs” kits with shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and other items most of us take for granted. We filled 1,000 of these kits, which will be distributed, for free, by ICHS and HealthPoint to their clients who are most in need.

During this time of economic difficulty, many non-profit organizations are finding their budgets cut and contributions down. Salal CU recognizes the importance of supporting vital service providers like ICHS and HealthPoint, and we know our members do too. If you’d like to make a donation to either organization, you can do so on their websites: ICHS and HealthPoint.
