Update on the Upgrade!
Monday, November 29th, 2010
In a recent News You Can Use, we announced that Salal CU is beginning work on an upgrade to the Credit Union’s system software. This is the complicated software program that allows a financial institution to do its business: it stores our member records, contains information about our products, generates our statements, etc. Like all software, these systems are periodically upgraded to stay in line with changing needs and new functional possibilities.
After months of research, Salal decided to upgrade to a new system. We believe this new system will allow us to make the best possible use of our existing team and will provide the highest level of flexibility as we grow and expand our offerings to our members. Most importantly, we believe this system will allow us to serve our members best: with the highest levels of efficiency, security and ease.
If you didn’t have the opportunity to read our initial article on the system upgrade, you can find that information here.
Soon our members will receive more detailed information about possible impacts on the day(s) when we “flip the switch” to our new system. Possible service interruptions may include closure of our branches on a Saturday and/or Online Banking and TouchTone Teller being temporarily unavailable. We’ll give you plenty of advance notice so you can plan ahead.
If you see the All Systems Go stoplight icon on any materials from Salal, please look them over with extra care; those materials contain dates and other information you’ll need to be ready for the upgrade.
As always, if you have questions or concerns about the upgrade or any other Salal product or service, you’re welcome to call us at 800-562-5515 or 206-298-9394.

Would love to have a Salal branch closer to Federal Way. It is a 35-40 mile round trip to Tukwila, the closest branch. I do as much on line as possible but still have to do in person banking at least once a week. I know there are many like me.
Anything in the works?
Thanks!
Gayle
Gayle,
Thanks so much for asking! Over time we hope to expand our branch network to include the Federal Way area. But for now, there are two shared branch locations in Federal Way that can assist you with transactions. Both Red Canoe Credit Union and Sound Credit Union are located in Federal Way and can handle routine transactions on your Salal Credit Union account.
Let me know if you have any other questions about Shared Branching!
