Time to Boot Your (Old, Unsafe) Browser?
Wednesday, December 15th, 2010Salal CU recently received word from our website hosts that Microsoft is no longer or will soon no longer be supporting the browser Internet Explorer 6. IE 6 is now 10 years old, and Microsoft has released two upgrades since (IE 7 and 8).
What does that mean to you?
Well, if you are still using IE 6, there will be no more security patches from Microsoft. That could leave you vulnerable if security gaps are found and exploited by hackers. Additionally, many websites now utilize functions that IE 6 cannot support, so some websites may not load completely or may be slow or lack some functions, including ours.
Not sure which browser version you’re using?
In your Menu Bar, click on “Help” and select “About Internet Explorer.” That will tell you the version number. If your version is IE 6 or older, consider upgrading to the most current version. You can find information or free downloads on the Windows website.
