Say hello to our new PAL
Friday, January 21st, 2011If you conduct some of your banking business by phone with our TouchTone Teller (TTT), you’ll notice a change beginning January 31, 2011. Along with our system upgrade, we’re upgrading our phone banking service to the Salal PAL (Phone Access Line).
PAL is much like the TTT system, and you’ll find that the menu is largely unchanged. There is one major difference: PAL has voice recognition. To help you navigate the new phone system, with your January statement, we’re sending a wallet-sized instruction card that lists all your menu options. If you don’t receive this statement, you can download and print the information by clicking here.
If you’ve already set up your TouchTone Teller PIN, there’s no need to change—your PIN will be the same on the new PAL system. If you haven’t registered for our phone banking system, it’s easy to do: just give us a call 206-298-9394 or 800-562-5515, and we’ll talk you through it.

I hope the touchtone capability will be kept. Whether it is a background noise when making a call from mobile or pay phone, or it is someone with a foreign accent, those voice recognition software often does not work.
Also I do not feel good about people eavesdropping my member number, for example.
Sarah,
The Phone Access Line (PAL) will have both voice recognition and touchtone capability, exactly for the reasons you gave: background noise can be a problem, as can security. You will have the option to choose, right from the start, if you prefer to “type” your answers on your keypad, so you never need to speak personal information aloud.
Great question, thank you for asking!
Shannon
Sarah,
Your member number is information that you should protect, you are absolutely right! All callers to our new Phone Access Line (PAL) will have the option to choose to enter their information by touchtone.
Thank you!
Shannon
