President’s Message: Moving Forward with Salal
Wednesday, February 9th, 2011
The new year has been full of reports about how the US economy may be improving and starting to move forward: jobs are being created, consumer confidence is rising, homes are being bought and sold. The improvements may be small and slower than we would like, but the fact that our economy may have finally turned around is enormously important. The recovery will take time, but the signs seem to indicate a brighter future for our nation.
As you know, Salal CU has undergone some changes as well, to ensure our own “brighter future.” Our name change in April of 2010 helped us clear up lingering confusion about who we serve and who is eligible to become a member of the credit union. Thanks to a system upgrade, we’re operating more efficiently already, and we have greater flexibility and vastly improved capability to accommodate continued growth. We’re looking forward to expanding our product and service offerings in 2011, and I believe we now have the management team, staff and resources to support the changes we’ve planned to make financial management easier for you.
For many financial institutions, the last couple of years have been a time of looking backward: Where did they go wrong? What could they have done better? At Salal, thanks to a tradition of prudent decision-making, we avoided the situation others now find themselves in. This tradition has allowed us to focus on our future, instead of regretting the past. We’re eagerly planning for continued growth and working toward a strong, sustainable future. Thank you for choosing to join Salal and becoming a member!
