Taking out a mortgage or refinancing one can be confusing, complicated processes, and often people put off making decisions because they’re overwhelmed. What’s a “ good” interest rate, what are “points,” do I want a 15-year, a 30-year, an ARM? When is a good time to refinance? Additionally, there are government-funded programs out there that can help borrowers get a lower rate or a Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) waiver even if they aren’t able to put 20% down. How do borrowers find out what programs exist?
