Why Fraud? Wi-Fi.
Friday, March 23rd, 2012With the growing trend of mobile computer/cell phone devices, so follows the way we manage our finances. And so follow the criminals, intent on stealing your information and money. From our laptops, iPads, iPhones, Droids and other “smart” devices, it is now easier than ever to know, in real time, every transaction as it occurs on our accounts. We can make payments, order checks (who uses those anymore?), transfer funds, receive text alerts, and go totally paperless, which is great!
However, you must be cautious about when and where you access your accounts using Wi-Fi, public computers, or even your home computer. According to this article from Yahoo News, using a free or open Wi-Fi connection is not a good idea. Nor is using a public computer–such as at a school or library–to access your finances. The article also explains that you should take the time to make sure your computer is virus-free before accessing sensitive information. Let’s all be safe out there.
